Outrage at demeaning medical professionals

It just has to be said out loud. I am not seeing an enormous outcry or editorials on the statement from the administration that Nurses, Physicians Assistants, and Physical therapists (among others) do not undergo professional education. What? An education that is specific, rigorous, prepares one for board certification and requires one to have continuing education is not a professional degree? I was a nurse before becoming a physician and my intimidating director told us that circus animals get trained, nurses get educated. The administration’s dismissal of these educational tracks, which are expensive (a PT now needs a doctorate, PAs are master’s degrees) is ignorant, mean and misogynisticย  โ€” nursing being still an overwhelmingly female profession. Fight back, speak up, write letters and for goodness sakes, thank the medical folks who can save your life, ease your suffering, and demonstrate compassion. It’s more than this administration is doing.
