It’s the final stretch of the year. Before we know it, 2025 will become 2026, and the whole calendar will restart.
I’m not much of a New Year’s resolution person, in large part because I like to think it’s never too late (or too early!) to create change or strive for a goal. But I do love the reset of a fresh wall calendar, blank to fill with adventures as the year unfolds before our eyes.
Around a month ago, when I was experiencing a spurt of energy for planning ahead, I bought a beautiful block-print calendar from Gibson’s (and a matching calendar for my mom!). I opened it for the first time this week and felt the thrill of excitement of soon being able to hang it up.
But before shifting my focus to 2026, I’ve been reminding myself that there’s still more fun to be had in 2025. Here are a few more recommendations before the year comes to a close!
Beyond serving up delectable treats, Table Bakery is hosting a couple of fun events this weekend. Test Kitchen Night, from 5-9 p.m. on Friday, will feature some savory dinner items and wonderful community vibes, while Winter Solstice Arts Market will host a handful of local artists with creative holiday gift options available for purchase on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
If you’re looking for a cinematic escape, venture to Red River Theatres for a Saturday morning showing of “Elf” or a Sunday morning showing of Dr. Seuss’s “The Grinch.” Both screenings will take place at 10 a.m. Tickets cost $12 for members and $15 for non-members. Complimentary hot cocoa is included! To purchase tickets in advance, visit https://redrivertheatres.org/.
To delve even further into the holiday spirit, head to the Concord Public Library on Monday for a 2 p.m. movie sing-along to The Muppet Christmas Carol. Who doesn’t want some good old-fashioned family fun, especially this time of year? Other ideas for you this weekend: Bundle up and go for a walk in the woods! Start a new crafting project or bake cookies and listen to your favorite music at home. Grab coffee downtown with a friend (or hot chocolate, if you prefer!) and do some last-minute holiday shopping on Main St. Or simply sleep in and have a cozy weekend. If you’re looking for a challenge, try to do all of the above!
Happy almost new year, and enjoy the weekend!
