Frederick Swanson

Merrimack, NH – Frederick J. Swanson, 84, of Merrimack, NH passed away on December 9th, 2025, after living with Alzheimer's disease for eight years. He was born in Providence, RI on July 7th, 1941, to the late Oscar and Mary (Sullivan) Swanson. Fred worked as a quality engineer at Jaybird & Mais and Topline for many years until his retirement in 2019. Prior to that he worked at Wang Laboratories for over twenty years. Fred served for four years in the United States Coast Guard. In his free time Fred enjoyed woodworking, bird watching and rooting for the Red Sox and Patriots. His favorite place was the beach and having fried clams from Petey's with Sandy overlooking the Isles of Shoals. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sporting events and dance recitals. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Sandra Swanson; his two daughters, Linda DesRoches and her husband Stephen; Stacey Tarbell and her husband Eaton III; and his four grandchildren, Emma and Olivia DesRoches and Eaton IV and Frederick "Joey" Tarbell. A funeral service will be held at the Rivet Funeral Home located at 425 Daniel Webster Highway in Merrimack, NH on Friday, December 19 at 10:00 AM with a burial to follow at the NH State Veterans Cemetery located at 110 Daniel Webster Highway in Boscawen, NH at 1:00pm.
