A female driver crashed into a garage in Chichester Monday night, according to the authorities. The crash resulted in the driver becoming trapped in her car.

At 6:16 p.m. on Monday, Chichester Fire Rescue responded to 200 Dover Rd., close to the Campers Inn of Chichester, to find a car smashed into the home’s garage.

The car was traveling east, crossed the westbound lane and struck the garage along with a utility pole, officials with the department said. There were two cars in the garage at the time of the crash.

Deputy Derek Martel, who responded to the scene, said the event was “chaotic.” He said extra crews, including Concord firefighters, took 30 minutes to extract the driver from her vehicle. The woman presented with non-life threatening injuries when she was transported to a local hospital.

The garage sustained structural damage but the rest of the home is intact, according to Chichester Fire.

The department requested assistance from Unitil with the damaged utility pole, but there was no apparent service outages, Martel said.
