Red has been my favorite color for over a decade — and pink is a close second. So, while some people break out their burgundy sweaters or their pink socks for Valentine’s Day, my outfit on Saturday won’t be any different than it is most other days of the year.
But that’s okay! It’s fun to watch others sport a pop of color that they might not otherwise consider wearing. I love a good festive moment, and Valentine’s Day certainly provides one.
There’s a lot happening to celebrate love this weekend — romantic love, platonic love and love of community!
On Thursday in downtown Concord, Homebody and Social Club Creamery are co-hosting a Galentine’s Girls Night, complete with treats, free make-your-own bouquets, mocktail samples and more. From 5-7 p.m., stop by with your friends and celebrate girlhood together. What could be more fun?!
That same evening, the Flannel Tavern in Chichester is hosting a Valentine’s Day Candle-Making Workshop at 6 p.m. Everyone will have the chance to create two candles in a jar or a tin or one in a dough bowl, depending on your preference. The workshop also allows participants to customize scents, jars and molds! Registration is online at Eventbrite.com.
If wine is your love language, Wine on Main has a free wine tasting from 1-4 p.m. on Valentine’s Day, perfect for you and your sweetheart. No reservations are required, so stroll in whenever you choose and try four wines from around the world.
Wherever your Saturday takes you, stop by Penuche’s Ale House in Concord for the 5th annual Broken Hearts Bash. As the bar wrote in a recent Instagram post, “Love is dead. Long live emo.” So, grab your loved ones or come alone and get ready to cry. The doors open at 8 p.m., with music starting at 9 p.m. Tickets are $10 and everyone must be 21 or over to enter.
If ice skating if what your heart desires, Concord Parks and Rec has extended skating hours on Friday, so head over to White Park between 4:30 – 8 p.m. Skate rentals are available at Merrimack Lodge. Skating will also be open from 1- 4 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday, so lots of opportunities to get outdoors with your loved ones this weekend.
Whatever you do, enjoy! And take an extra moment to tell the people in your life that you love them!
