Concord, NH – Charles “Chuck” Homer Poirier, 98, died peacefully on February 9, 2026, at Havenwood in Concord, New Hampshire, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Greenfield, Massachusetts on February 7, 1928, Chuck was the son of Homer and Dorothy Poirier. He was predeceased by his parents; his sister, Francis; his brother, Norman; and his beloved wife, Patricia Gardner Poirier, who passed away in 2020 after 67 wonderful years of marriage.
Chuck is survived by his son, Mark Poirier, and his wife, Cynthia; his daughter, Anne Poirier, and her husband, Timothy Drown; four grandchildren; two great-grandsons (his latest pride and joy); and several nieces and nephews.
Chuck graduated from Greenfield High School in 1946 and proudly served two years in the U.S. Navy as an Electronics Technician. He earned his degree in Electrical Engineering from Tufts College in 1952, where he met the love of his life, Patricia Gardner, of Concord, NH.
Chuck spent 37 years at Sylvania in engineering and leadership roles within fluorescent lamp design and manufacturing. He earned several patents and took great pride in his work.
Chuck was always active, and after retiring in 1989 he filled his time with his many interests including volunteering, writing, genealogy, golf, walking, fixing things that needed fixing,
helping others and sharing stories.
Chuck lived by a simple code: do your best, be kind, and show up. He was known for his strong work ethic, gentle humor, problem-solving mind, and generous heart. He loved to laugh, wasn’t
afraid to shed a tear and found deep joy in family and fond memories.
Above all, Chuck was devoted to his family. He was a steady presence, a patient teacher, and a source of wisdom, both quiet and not so quiet. He will be deeply missed and fondly
remembered by all who knew him.
