Distractions?
Nationally, a threat of attacking Iran is possibly being used to distract the news media and the public from the revelations contained in the Epstein files. So, is City Counselor Stacey Brown’s activities in support of allegations against City Counselor Amanda Grady-Sexton and the NH Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence becoming a distraction from Brown’s question about Concord finances? While the former raises legitimate concerns, they should not overshadow unresolved questions about the City of Concord’s finances, which are of direct importance to taxpayers.
In particular, there has been no clear explanation as to why trustees of certain restricted funds failed to meet for many years. It also remains unclear what amounts were withdrawn from these funds, when those withdrawals occurred, and for what purposes. Finally, whether all applicable laws and regulations were followed.
Until these questions are answered openly and fully, concerns about the management of Concord’s restricted funds will persist. Transparency and accountability are essential, and these issues should remain a priority until the public receives clear and documented responses.
