Swim With A Mission has awarded Operation Delta Dog with a grant of $180,000 to further its impactful mission of rescuing homeless dogs and transforming them into service dogs for Veterans!

Operation Delta Dog redefines service dog training with a hands-on approach that transcends traditional methods. Their twelve-week foundational training program, led by experienced trainers, is a cornerstone of their commitment to both Veterans and the canines they rescue.

During this immersive training period, veterans and their newfound companions actively participate in classes together at least twice a week, fostering a bond that extends beyond mere functionality. This unique aspect of the program reflects the natural synergy between the Veteran and the service dog as they engage in the training process, resulting in an organic match.

ODD doesn’t stop at the initial training phase. The organization provides comprehensive ongoing support, including one-on-one home training sessions, regular classes, and active participation in educational opportunities and meetings with Veteran caseworkers. This commitment extends throughout the life of the dog and underscores Operation Delta Dog’s dedication to the well-being of both the Veterans and their canine partners.

Brian, a proud graduate of the program, beautifully encapsulates the transformative power of this approach: “Every time I look at my dog, I know that I rescued him and he rescued me.” His heartfelt sentiment reflects the profound impact of Operation Delta Dog’s mission, where the connection between Veterans and their service dogs becomes a source of strength, purpose, and mutual rescue.
