Heath Howard for Congress

In the Democratic primary for New Hampshire’s 1st Congressional District, voters should pay attention not only to where candidates eventually land, but to where they are willing to begin.

That is why I am endorsing Heath Howard for Congress.

On issue after issue, Howard has started from the place too many Democrats reach only after pressure builds. He has not needed to be convinced that health care is a human right, that housing is a matter of dignity, that disability justice belongs at the center of public life or that U.S. policy toward Israel and Gaza demands moral clarity.

That matters. Politics is full of candidates who wait to see where the room is moving before deciding how bold they can afford to be. Sometimes they arrive at the right position eventually. But there is a difference between being led to a position and leading from one.

Howard’s campaign has been clear from the beginning about the kind of politics this moment requires. He is not offering progressive language as a late adjustment or a branding exercise. He is running from conviction, from lived experience and from an understanding that the people most harmed by our politics cannot wait for elected officials to become comfortable saying what should already be obvious.

I respect the seriousness of this primary. But voters deserve clarity. Heath Howard is the candidate I trust most to challenge power directly, speak honestly and fight for people our politics too often leaves behind.
