So many unanswered questions

Many questions unanswered—where do I begin?

It was reported that the new soccer field lights at Keach Park were scaled back from what was originally planned when the $400,000 project was approved. Why was that done, and why did the project take so long to complete?

What is the final cost of the Beaver Meadow clubhouse? Will it match the $6 million figure promised by the city administration despite the lack of final plans? Where will the funding come from, and are the private donors meeting their commitments?

What has happened since the questions raised by Councilor Stacey Brown about the restricted funds? Was there ever a public response regarding the possible improper use of those funds? Have the trustees corrected their failure to meet regularly as required, and where are the reports? Changing the purpose of the funds after the fact does not erase the possibility of misuse.

In addition to the work needed at Memorial Field, we now learn that Everett Arena also requires millions of dollars in repairs and upgrades. What other costs may still emerge and place further strain on city resources? Could better maintenance have reduced any of these needs?

Finally, why is there so little transparency around the city manager’s job performance? When information is withheld, it is fair to ask why. All the public seems to hear is, “He’s doing well — give him a raise.”

Concord taxpayers deserve answers to these questions and many more, but I have reached my 1,500-character limit.
