With the walls and roof standing, details are filling in at the new Beaver Meadow Golf Course Clubhouse.
Plumbing, electrical, and security work is complete, according to an update from the city manager’s office, and drywall crews have started work inside. Outside, the siding is almost finished and the “wood beam accents have been added to the gable ends.”
The project timeline is for the new $6 million building to be completed in the coming winter or spring, followed by demolition of the old clubhouse. Everything would be wrapped up by next summer.
Outside in the parking lot, the final grading and first layers of pavement will happen in the next few weeks.
While city leaders have been effusive that new taxes aren’t paying for this construction, the clubhouse is being paid for by both golfers and taxpayers.
The first annual payment on the project is $494,000, which will decline a small amount each year until it’s paid off.
Golf course revenue is paying for about half, while the rest is being covered by the city’s recreation reserve, largely leftover tax money from previous years.
With a city operating budget of about $90 million, the clubhouse payments are a small fraction of Concord’s overall expenses.
Only the first year of payments has been set by the city council. Proponents of the project hope the new clubhouse will boost the course’s popularity and revenue, which will be used to pay off the project.
Crews will continue construction inside the structure, including a new bar and lounge, pro shop and locker rooms.
