Thanks to Concord firefighters
Many thanks to the Concord firefighters who rescued me from a stuck elevator.
Tuesday night after watching the hilarious “Coyote vs. Acme” movie at Red River Theatre, I went to the Storrs St. parking garage and onto the elevator, which moved a short way and stopped. None of the buttons worked, including the help button. The display for the floor was blank. I was alone in the elevator. I thought, I’ve just watched a movie, and now I’m in a movie situation.
I called the theatre, but they had closed for the night. I called 911, which connected me to the Concord Fire Department. The operator asked me if I were okay (I was) and said help was on the way. In less than 10 minutes, I heard noises at the elevator door. A couple of minutes later, the door was pried open, and four firefighters stood outside. I was about 18″ above the floor. They helped me out of the elevator and asked me if I were okay. They offered to help me find my car, which was on a different level, but I thanked them and left. They had no idea what had gone wrong.
I am glad I had phone service!
