Bishop Brady High School cancelled classes on Tuesday after a student threatened harm to another student and the school community, according to a statement from the school.
The threat is now under investigation at the Northfield Police Department.
“Leadership is working closely with law enforcement agencies. The student who made the threat is no longer enrolled at the school,” read a statement provided by the high school.
The Concord Police Department was made aware of the threat at about 9:45 p.m. on Monday. Concord Police Lieutenant Thomas Yerkes said that although the school is within the city limits, the threat was being investigated by the Northfield and Belmont police departments because that’s where the threat originated.
After looking into the threat further, the Belmont Police Department determined the incident fell under Northfield’s jurisdiction, Belmont Detective Sergeant Raechel Moulton said.
School will resume as regularly scheduled on Wednesday, said Bishop Brady spokesperson Tara Bishop.
“Bishop Brady High School prioritizes student and staff safety and maintains robust security measures, including regular trainings and drills overseen by the Concord Police Department. The school has a zero-tolerance policy for threats of violence,” the school’s statement read. “Although there is no longer any known threat, Concord Police officers will be on campus out of an abundance of caution.”
No additional information has been released as the investigation remains open and active.
