A man’s truck rolled over after crashing on Mile Hill Road in Belmont on Sunday minutes after he was seen “racing” with another vehicle nearby, police said.
Driver Jesse Tarr, 26, of Sanborton was uninjured in the crash, according to law enforcement. Police said they believe speed to have been a factor.
Belmont emergency responders were called to Mile Hill Road near the Fair Grounds at 1:12 p.m. Sunday to reports that a truck had rolled onto its roof and was lying in the middle of the roadway.
When the first police officer arrived at the crash scene the driver of the truck was out of the vehicle picking up items that had been thrown from the cab of the truck.
While officers were investigating the cause of the crash it was determined that speed to fast for conditions was a primary factor in the loss of operator control of the truck.
During this investigation one resident reported seeing this truck racing with a Nissan in the area just before the crash took place.
The 2000 Dodge Dakota pickup truck received heavy damage from this crash and was towed from the scene by Rusty’s towing.
The investigation is ongoing and this event will be presented to the department prosecutor for review.
