We write to support the candidacy of John Garvey for the Senate seat being vacated by Gerald Little.

Over the last twenty years we have watched John’s career as a lawyer and educator flourish and we are confident that he has developed the skills and instincts that would serve him well in Concord.

He has also demonstrated his ability to work across the aisle to solve problems. This has been a characteristic of earlier senators who have represented the district like Alf Jacobsen and Bob Odell.

New Hampshire is being challenged by a series of economic and demographic changes. The prosperity and population increases that characterized life in the first part of the century have been replaced by low growth and tight, often restrictive budgets. It is clearly a time in our history that calls for common sense and fresh ideas about how our state government should function.

In the next four months we look forward to hearing John’s perspectives and ideas. We believe that he will present voters with intelligent, careful solutions. We expect that he will offer realistic approaches that will work for us.

We urge the voters of District 8 to support John Garvey.
