What do you who are against safe reproduction healthcare understand about the subject? Have you done any research regarding evidence-based facts on abortion and reproductive healthcare? Or are you listening to TV hosts who claim expertise, spew forth myth after myth, and yet would criminalize women and their providers in some of the most fraught life situations? Please ask your own family physician, obstetrician, gynecologist, midwife or RN how she or he thinks about having legislative panels and laws dictate what is in the best interest of their patients. Over 75 national health professional organizations are very strongly supportive of reproductive choice.
As a retired midwife and retired high-risk OB nurse with 45 years of experience, I have held women and whole families in my arms as they have had to decide to terminate a pregnancy early or late in their gestation. The clinical reasons are varied and complex. There have been many times I have assisted those who profess to “not believe” in abortion because their situation is different. It is not different! Those of you who are thinking that it is ok that your lawmakers are dictating how you, your granddaughter, daughter, sister, mother, friend or partner’s healthcare is delivered, must not trust your loved ones to make the best decision for their life and health. Reproductive healthcare is healthcare. Vote only for those who believe in the right of people to make their own reproductive health care decisions.
