Donald Trump is returning to New Hampshire tonight to hold a campaign rally at Windham High School. It is the Republican’s first visit to New Hampshire since officially locking up the party’s nomination at its convention in Cleveland. And it comes in the wake of recent controversies.
Trump drew widespread criticism this week for repeatedly attacking the parents of a slain soldier. Trump also went after U.S. Sen. Kelly Ayotte in an interview with the Washington Post Tuesday, saying he is “leading her in the polls.”
A WBUR poll out this week shows Trump trails Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton in the Granite State by 15 percentage points. The survey also shows Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate Maggie Hassan leads Ayotte by 10 percentage points. The U.S. Senate race is expected to be one of the most competitive in the country, and one that could determine party control of the chamber.
The rally is at 8 p.m.
