JAFFREY – Senior Elise Miner scored a goal in each half to lead the Hopkinton High girls’ soccer team to its third straight win, a 4-2 victory over Conant (3-5-0) on Thursday.

Junior Katie Brown scored her first career varsity goal less than five minutes into the game. Senior goalie tandem Maddie Carmichael and Beth Taylor played well in net and held off a late Conant rally to secure the win.

Senior Paige Martin had a goal and an assist in the win. “I’m proud of the girls for the win streak,” she said afterward.

The Hawks have scored four goals in each game during the win streak, and they have shut out their opponents twice to improve to 5-2-2 in the Division III standings.

“I’m happy to see we’re living up to the potential Coach (Zahn) saw in us at the beginning of the season,” said junior Lizz Holmes, who had two assists Thursday.

Added senior Lexi Lawler: “I’m happy to see the work in practice is finally paying off in games.”

After a Friday visit to Derryfield, the Hawks return home to host St. Thomas on Tuesday.
