I cannot understand how anyone can consider how taking health care away from 24 million fellow citizens is a positive act.

You would think the representatives who voted for this bill just committed political suicide but, unfortunately, the attitude of many Americans seems to be one of hate and fear. The greatest fear of our fellow citizens who vote Republican is that someone may end up getting something for free that they themselves had to work for.

Decades of brainwashing by Fox โ€œNewsโ€ and the likes of Rush Limbaugh have driven a large number of Americans to hate their neighbors. I have had discussions with ardent Republicans whose lives are made more difficult by the very people they vote to put into office. Most accept the fact that this is true but, every single one of them cites this fear of freeloaders as overriding their own self interest and as their motivation to vote Republican.

In a word they vote Republican out of spite. Average Americans who vote Republican do so to spite their fellow citizens. This is an irrational act and cannot be combated with facts or diplomacy or compromise. I see no way to win these people over to decency. Hillary Clinton was correct in referring to these people as โ€œDeplorables.โ€

An evil has gripped our country and has found its voice in a narcissistic sociopath we now call president. God help us.
