Friday is the last day candidates can sign up to run for Concord School Board, and already every race is contested.

There are four open seats on the school board this year, after the board president resigned and three members decided not to seek re-election. Board member Tom Croteauโ€™s District A seat, Liza Poinierโ€™s District B seat, Chuck Crushโ€™s District C seat and Jennifer Pattersonโ€™s at-large seat will all be up for election on Nov. 3.

The filing period runs from Sept. 2 to 11, and nine candidates have signed up to run so far.

โ€œWe only have a very short time before the election, and Iโ€™m happy to say we have a number of people that will be running,โ€ acting president Jim Richards said at the school board meeting Tuesday night. โ€œItโ€™s always exciting to see new people running for the board.โ€

Roy Schweiker and Kate West are running for District A. Allie Maltais and Jonathan Weinberg are running for District B. Timothy Fanelli, Brenda Hastings and Cathryn Vaughn are running for District C and Jane Presby and Pamela Walsh are running for the one-year at-large position.

The three district seats are all for three-year terms, and the at-large seat is a one-year position that finishes the final year of Pattersonโ€™s term.

The filing period ends at 5:00 p.m. Friday.
