On Sunday the NHIAA Division I and Division II basketball seasons concluded with championship games and the release of New Hampshire Basketball Coaches Organization All-State rosters.

All-State selections and awards are voted on by member coaches of their respective division.

Several players from area high schools received First Team, Second Team and Honorable Mention, but area coaches took home the biggest awards.

Pembroke Academy’s Steve Langevin was selected as the Division II girls Varsity Coach of the Year by his peers after leading the Spartans to a 17-3 record and a spot in the semifinals in his second season with the team.

Pembroke has improved significantly under Langevin’s leadership. The Spartans finished 5-9 and lost in the preliminary round in 2021 – Langevin’s inaugural year with the program – and went 4-14 and missed the D-II tournament in 2019-20.

Merrimack Valley’s Jeff Wheeler was named the D-II boys’ JV Coach of the Year, leading the Pride to a 13-3 record.

The Division II girls’ All-State rosters were especially well-represented with local athletes, hardly a surprise given that half of the final four and four of the top nine seeds – No. 2 Pembroke, No. 3 Bow, No. 4 Merrimack Valley and No. 9 John Stark – were local schools.

A complete list of area players who were named to All-State rosters is below.
