After late rallies to win in back-to-back games, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats were shut down on Sunday by the Hartford Yard Goats, losing 10-0.
Hartford’s 21-year-old righty German Marquez took a no-hitter into the eighth inning before allowing a single by Wilkin Castillo, the only hit of the game by New Hampshire.
Marquez (3-1) walked two and struck out eight in his eight innings, and Johendi Jiminian worked a perfect ninth as the Yard Goats salvaged the final game of the series.
Raimel Tapia tripled and scored on a double by Ryan McMahon for all the scoring Hartford would need in the first inning.
Hartford added five more runs on six hits in the bottom of the third against New Hampshire starter Casey Lawrence (0-2). Pat Valiaka and Rosell Herrera plated runs with singles and Dillon Thomas hit a two-run homer.
Herrera added an RBI double in the bottom of the fourth and David Dahl ripped a two-run homer in the fifth.
On Monday, the Fisher Cats open a three-game series with the Portland Sea Dogs, the Double-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox. Game time is 5:35 p.m.
