High schools: Franklin basketball splits doubleheader with Moultonborough

Boys’ Basketball

Moultonborough 39, Franklin 37

Key players: Moultonborough – Brode Bacon (17 points), Ethan Tilton (11 points); Franklin – Matt Carlsen (23 points), Harrison Kaplan (10 points)

Highlights:  The Tornadoes led 26-19 heading into the fourth quarter, but gave up more points in the fourth quarter (20) than in the previous three quarters combined and Moultonborough scored on a game-winning buzzer beater. Franklin had led the entire game up to that point, but allowed the Warriors to get an offensive rebound off a missed free throw to set up a buzzer-beating put back.

Girls’ Basketball

Franklin 56, Moultonborough 31

Highlights: The Tornadoes remained undefeated playing in their new home gym for the second time to open the season. Franklin will travel to Hinsdale on Friday.
