A 31-year-old Concord man was transported to the hospital Tuesday morning with minor injuries after losing control of his vehicle and crashing into the back of a state police cruiser on I-93 North in Bow.

Police said Michael Dimattia was operating his vehicle in the high-speed lane when he attempted to merge into the middle lane and struck the back of another vehicle operated by Danielle Checchi, 30, of Walpole.

He lost control of his vehicle and veered into the right breakdown lane where he struck the back of a state police cruiser that was stopped to assist a broken-down vehicle. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

Dimattia and troopers Jacob Plourde and Christopher Abbate were transported to a local medical facility to be evaluated for their injuries. Checchi was uninjured and able to operate her vehicle, police said.

Two lanes of the highway were closed for a short period of time while the scene was being investigated. The incident remains under investigation by the New Hampshire State Police.

The state police were assisted by Bow Fire and Rescue, the New Hampshire Department of Transportation and the New England Truck Center.
