A recent commentary piece by the Los Angeles Times reminded us government is not the enemy in a crisis. Each day watching the COVID-19 task force, I know we should do better.

Despite being briefed for two hours ahead of time, the president deflects, washes, and spins like a reality show. The experts grasping the confusion and misstatements, try to fix it for us making corrections. They need their own show.

My 89-year-old mother called last week. A hint of hope in her voice. “Trump thinks there is a two drug cure.” I became the dream-squasher. Not even close, I said.

Fooled her once. Fooled me twice with “Defense Protection Act in full force, but haven’t had to use it.” I was picturing factories cranking out medical supplies all weekend. Not even close. I could not even get through the grocery store with a bandana staying up over my nose. Picture a doctor or nurse leaning over you in a bandana or contaminated mask.

He speaks to a terrified and captured nation spinning yarns and campaigning on his great job. Filled churches by Easter, back to work in weeks. This is World War C. A virus headed towards us, not away from us. I give a vote of no confidence.

If you trust anyone, trust the governors who are leading the way in New York, New Hampshire and Massachusetts, all protecting us with the actual truth and facts not manipulated by a desire to win an election.
