I am supporting Mark MacKenzie for Congress. Mark is running for the 1st District seat. Mark has 12 union endorsements and counting, and 25 years of experience fighting for the rights of others. We need a champion in Congress instead of the “business as usual” corporate lackeys.
America is a representative republic. When we vote, we give our proxy to our elected officials and trust that they will vote as We the People wish them too. But today, more common than not, our politicians vote the lines and policies dictated by their wealthy contributors or strictly along party lines. They ignore the needs, desires and will of the people who solemnly gave their proxies to them in the first place. We see it every day in the actions of Congress. For instance, net neutrality is supported by almost 90 percent of the population yet Congress did away with it recently by a huge margin. In a recent study conducted jointly by Princeton and Northwestern Universities, the following statement summed up their conclusion: “The preferences of the average American appear to have only a minuscule, near-zero, statistically non-significant impact upon public policy.”
It’s time for this trend to come to an end. Therefore, I am supporting Mark MacKenzie for Congress. He is a true progressive who will work for United States, the common man. Change starts a step at a time. Take that step with me and others like me who are voting for Mark.
