Seeing the difficulty finding primary care doctors in the Concord area, physician-owned DMC Primary Care plans to open a new facility in the city.

Come Nov. 1, the primary care practice, which has been in business since 1964, will open on Hall Street and has already started accepting new patients.

“It’s a market that is in desperate need of primary care,” said Stephanie Daskal, director of marketing and communications.

The Concord location will be its seventh in the state.

“I think we’re very excited to take our model of care to the Concord area and we’re very excited to be working with Concord doctors and to have the opportunity to grow our relationships with additional communities,” said Chief Medical Officer Dr. Daniel Waszkowski.

Because the practice is physician-owned, DMC Primacy Care approaches health care unconventionally, Daskal and Waszkowski said. They offer services that traditional primary care providers often don’t, including extended hours, weekend hours, same-day visits and online scheduling.

“It provides us an opportunity to take the model that we built and provide same-day care and preventative care to the population in Concord,” Waszkowski said.

DMC Primary Care, which is based in Derry, purchased the entire building at 81 Hall St., which will be renovated to accommodate other tenants, specifically other medical care providers, including imaging and radiology services, blood work and lab services on site, Daskal said.

“We’ll pair that with local specialists to maintain everyone’s care there,” Waszkowski said.

Daskal said the response has been positive and they’re looking forward to serving the Concord community.

New Hampshire and Vermont have been experiencing a shortage of primary care doctors, especially in rural areas, which has grown worse during the pandemic, according to the Bi-State Primary Care Association.

“I’ve heard it’s been difficult to find a provider and if that’s indeed the case, hopefully, this will make it easier,” Waszkowski said.
