Jim Fedolfi and John J. Valera aren’t the best choices to represent the towns of District 1 (Hillsborough, Antrim, and Windsor) in the coming election. Both of them seem to operate on the assumption that being elected as a representative to the New Hampshire Legislature obliges them to cast votes only some of the time.

Fedolfi served in the term that just ended in September. Of the 223 votes on measures before the Legislature this term, he didn’t cast a vote for 161 of them. That’s not voting 72% of the time! You can check it out for yourself by going to gencourt.state.nh.us/house/members/member.aspx?pid=8299. Click on “Voting Record” to see his votes.

Valera’s voting record was only slightly better in the last term he served in 2018. He didn’t vote on 176 of a total of 252 ballot measures. That’s 70% of votes missed. You can verify these numbers by going to gencourt.state.nh.us/nhgcrollcalls/rollcallsearch.aspx.

This kind of absenteeism is hardly representing us at all. Is this the performance we want from our representatives?

Marjorie Porter and Susanne F. White will be far better at looking out for our interests. They will actually show up to do the work.
