The owners of the former Red Apple Buffet in Concord are prepared to reopen the all-you-can-eat restaurant after the sale of the Loudon Road property fell through multiple times.
“If it doesn’t sell in the near future, the owners will open it up themselves,” said Wendy Keeler, a real estate agent selling the property through Fairway Real Estate.
Once a hub for international cuisine served buffet-style, the Red Apple Buffet, which opened in 2008, was a classic spot for families, friends, and members of the community to mix and match Chinese, American, Japanese, and Italian cuisine, all on one plate.
Its closing in the wake of COVID was lamented by fans on a Forgotten New Hampshire post that received 249 comments and showed photos of shattered windows at the restaurant.
Some interior construction took place at the end of the summer, but the 14,947-square-foot building remained vacant.
The property first went up for sale on June 23, 2022. Keeler said that five different sales fell through for various reasons in the time the building has been on the market.
The former Red Apple Buffet building at 161 Loudon Road was constructed in 1969 and sits on a 0.89-acre property at the intersection of Loudon Road and Canterbury Road, right by Pizza Hut, CVS, and Wallgreens. The current asking price is $1,990,000.
The building still contains all the furniture on its main level, enough to seat 325 people. Downstairs, there is a bar and dance floor, and below that an unfinished basement. The former restaurant also has two coolers and one with a freezer. The lot itself boasts 62 parking spaces.
