Jonathan Harper has been named Director of Athletics at Rivier University, the school announced earlier this week. Harper will oversee all aspects of the all 15 of the Raiders’ NCAA Division III programs.
“Rivier is delighted to welcome Jonathan back to the New England region as he now joins the Raider community,” said Sister Paula Marie Buley, Rivier’s president, in a press release.
Harper most recently served as the athletic director at Marymount University in California, but previously was the AD at Newbury College and assistant AD at Fitchburg State in Massachusetts. He was also the commissioner for the Little East Conference and East Coast Conference, and he has been the assistant commissioner for the Central Athletic Collegiate Conference and Northeast-10 Conference.
Harper has served as an adjunct faculty member at Newbury College and Post University, teaching courses in sports management, business management and communications. He holds a Bachelor of Science in physical education with a concentration in recreation from Bridgewater State University and a Master of Science in education with a specialization in sports management from Nova Southeastern University.
Harper officially joined Rivier on Monday, succeeding longtime AD Joanne Merrill, who will stay on as athletics project manager.
