Letter: Hillsborough, other towns already connected

I don’t know where Sen. Ruth Ward (Monitor letters, Aug. 12) has been for the past three years or so. Three of the towns that she mentioned, Deering, Hillsborough, and Washington, have enjoyed high-speed wide-band internet service as well as comprehensive TV service.

These towns are served by two independent telephone companies: TDS and Granite State. These companies have made massive investments to rebuild their telecommunication systems with fiberglass cable service throughout. On occasion, service may slow a bit but that is a reflection of the level of use.

Actually, such internet and TV service has also been provided to a large portion of Hillsborough by Comcast for many years.

The real problem is a continuing lack of such service in other rural areas of New Hampshire served formerly by New England Telephone.

I have no business connection to either company, just simply a satisfied customer.
