The New Hampshire chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention would like to thank over a hundred of our New Hampshire field advocates for their efforts to help pass Senate Bill 282.

We are grateful for everyone who emailed or called their lawmakers to voice support for this meaningful legislation.

As loss survivors and those who care for loved ones battling depression, we are hopeful that by teaching our youth how to ask for help, and how to care for their emotional well-being, we will keep them safe and well.

On a personal note, I lost my sister-in-law to suicide six years ago. Not a day goes by where I donโ€™t think of her wonderful energy and love for our family. After her loss, I decided to move forward by joining the suicide prevention movement. Becoming a volunteer with AFSP-NH has allowed me to work toward the day when suicide no longer takes our loved ones.

On Saturday, Sept. 9, we will walk in Concord to help stop the stigma surrounding suicide and to bring hope to those impacted by mental illness. To join us, go to afsp.org/concordnh.
