It was of great relief to see Gov. Chris Sununu sign Senate Bill 4 into law this month, protecting health coverage for those with pre-existing conditions. With all of the partisan fighting these past few weeks – the pointing fingers and placing blame – it is a relief to see yet another common-sense decision from Gov. Sununu. This stands in contrast to President Trump, who is leading the charge to destroy the Affordable Care Act, including protections for those with pre-existing conditions.
SB 4 protects New Hampshire citizens, like myself, from being denied insurance coverage due to elements outside of my own control. This common-sense legislation puts my mind at ease and protects the nearly 24% of people with pre-existing conditions living in our state. This law works for us all. I applaud Gov. Sununu for his endorsement of the bill and hope to see other New Hampshire lawmakers follow suit in the future.
Might I also add that perhaps the Democrats should take a page from Gov. Sununu’s book and work for compromise and common sense, as the budget sits on the corner of their desks waiting for revisions these next few months.
