I am writing to encourage Hopkinton voters to support me, Andrea Folsom, for Hopkinton School Board.
I grew up in New Hampshire and understand the challenges we face funding quality education, while receiving the least amount of state financial support nationwide. Indeed, Hopkinton has developed top-rated schools, but the associated burden we bear as taxpayers is a heavy one that must be addressed both creatively and immediately.
As a clinical social worker, I will bring a unique and valuable perspective to the Hopkinton School Board. I have a deep appreciation for community engagement and can be found leading my Girl Scout troop, serving on the PTA board, or sitting on the economic development committee, among other volunteer roles.
I’m comfortable having the challenging conversations we must engage in so that we can move forward as a community. My prior board and clinical experience has informed my strengths-based, solution-focused approach, and I look forward to using my skill set to address three main areas of concern: improving communication, updating supportive and effective policy, and creating a sustainable budget with long-term planning.
Bottom line, this job takes time and a willingness to prepare, dig in and work every day. As your Hopkinton School Board representative, I promise to approach all issues with no agenda and an open mind, with clear communication, and to actively work toward solutions that support both our children and our community.
