Leaders unite, they do not divide. Expertise is essential. We need leaders of every political stripe as we face the current pandemic of coronavirus. A crisis reveals a true leader. A medical crisis requires health care and scientific research expertise. Financial emergencies require both economic and political leaders. We are blessed with an abundance of both throughout the world.
In our own country, doctors, nurses and other health professionals are leading the way. Political leadership has been shown, particularly by state governors from both parties. Sadly, the same level of competence has not been shown by our commander in chief. He does not have the requisite skills for the job at hand. He minimizes the gravity of the moment and fails to recognize that we’re in this battle for the long haul. No quick fixes or half measures will do.
