Two people have filed so far for the special election to fill the Ward 4 City Council seat.

Karten McNamanara, 18 Prince St., and Connor Spern, 23 Union St. No. 2, have filed as of Tuesday.

Councilor Meredith Hatfield resigned last month after moving out of the city.

The special election will be held Tuesday, July 13. Candidacy filing is open through Monday, May 10, at the City Clerkโ€™s Office. The filing fee is $5. Candidates can file by petition through Friday, May 14.

The term runs through Dec. 31.

State representative

A special election primary was being held on April 20 for the Merrimack 23 District of the New Hampshire House of Representatives. Christopher Lins beat John Martin in the Republican primary. Muriel Hall ran unopposed in the Democratic primary. The general election is taking place on June 8, and the winner of this special election will serve until December 2022.

The seat became vacant after Samantha Fox (D) resigned on Jan. 12. Fox had represented the district since 2018.

The special general election will be held on June 8.

Lins is a businessman and youth sports coach. Hall is a teacher at Bow Memorial School.
