A Concord man was injured in a snowmobile accident in Pittsburg on Thursday afternoon.

According to New Hampshire Fish and Game, Jason Berube, 45, of Concord lost control of his snowmobile while negotiating a corner on Trail 140 and hit a tree around 4 p.m. Thursday.

Pittsburg Fire and Rescue, 45th Parallel EMS, and a New Hampshire conservation officer responded to the scene, approximately four miles from the nearest road, via snowmobiles.

โ€œFollowing the crash, a member of Berubeโ€™s riding party traveled approximately a mile to a location of cell phone coverage, where he was able to place a 911 call for help.

โ€œBerube was stabilized and transported from the scene via rescue sled by Pittsburg Fire and Rescue personnel. He was subsequently taken to Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital in Colebrook โ€ฆ for serious but non-life-threatening injuries,โ€ according to a press release.

The release said โ€œfailure to adjust speed to changing trail conditions appears to have been the primary factor in the crashโ€ and noted that shortage of snow has led to thin coverage โ€œand the potential for icy corners.โ€
