A Concord man was injured in a snowmobile accident in Pittsburg on Thursday afternoon.
According to New Hampshire Fish and Game, Jason Berube, 45, of Concord lost control of his snowmobile while negotiating a corner on Trail 140 and hit a tree around 4 p.m. Thursday.
Pittsburg Fire and Rescue, 45th Parallel EMS, and a New Hampshire conservation officer responded to the scene, approximately four miles from the nearest road, via snowmobiles.
โFollowing the crash, a member of Berubeโs riding party traveled approximately a mile to a location of cell phone coverage, where he was able to place a 911 call for help.
โBerube was stabilized and transported from the scene via rescue sled by Pittsburg Fire and Rescue personnel. He was subsequently taken to Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital in Colebrook โฆ for serious but non-life-threatening injuries,โ according to a press release.
The release said โfailure to adjust speed to changing trail conditions appears to have been the primary factor in the crashโ and noted that shortage of snow has led to thin coverage โand the potential for icy corners.โ
