A campaign to bring more solar energy to Canterbury says it has more than doubled its goal, and still has time to go.
The campaign, Solarize Canterbury, runs from June through August and had the goal of 12 new contracts for installing solar panels on buildings.
As of the end of July, 27 contracts had been initiated with “several others expected,” the group said. An estimated 45 homes, or 4.2% of the households in Canterbury, already had solar panels.
The program offers group-buying discounts for installation, from the firm 603 Solar and Adams Energy, and assistance in the application process.
