Students in Mrs. Richardson’s 5th grade at the Henniker Community School check out the hundreds of sac fry that hatched over the Martin Luthur King Jr. weekend in their classroom. As part of the Trout in the Classroom project, these citizen scientists are raising trout from eggs to fry and will release them into the Contoocook River in Henniker later this spring. Trout in the Classroom, an environmental education program, teaches students the importance of healthy watersheds. Students monitor tank quality, study stream habitat, and learn to appreciate water resources.
