Milford man drives into water bog on I-89

A New Hampshire man drove off Interstate 89 and ended up in a bog but was not seriously injured in a one-car accident Saturday afternoon, according to state police.

Police said John Wolfgang, 75, of Milford was driving a 2006 Kia Sedona northbound on I-89 in Warner about 2:15 p.m. when he apparently fell asleep and drifted off the left side of the road.

The van struck a sign and traveled about 450 feet before โ€œcoming to rest in a water bogโ€ about 150 feet away from the roadway, police said in a press release.

The high-speed lane was closed during the investigation and removal of the van.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or has information about it is requested to contact Trooper Michael Berntsen at 223-4381.
