Henniker Chili Fest winners

Henniker Rotary’s 15th Annual Chili Fest was a huge success this year. Great weather, wonderful chili to taste and record breaking crowds. Here are the winners:

Amateurs: There were 28 contestants. The five winners in this category all received a colorful plaque. Third-place – a tie between A Vicarious Verde, Mike Ivas and Ericka Leveroni of Sandown and Texas Two Step, Michael Alsup of Barrington; Second-place – Uncle Box’s Chili, Cedric Woodbury of Contoocook (a repeat winner from previous years); First-place and winners of the $1,000 Gold Crown Chili was Dr. Joshua Osofsky and Henniker Veterinary Hospital. (They donated their prize money back to the Rotary Club!); People’s Choice Award – Swamp Donkey Kreations; Best Booth Display – The Three Amigos.

Professionals: There were nine contestants in this category. The five winners received a colorful plaque plus a Chili Flag to hang in their business for the coming year. Third-place – New England College of Henniker; Second-place – Country Spirit Restaurant & Pub of Henniker; First-place – Taco Beyondo of Hillsboro; Best Booth Display – The Red Arrow Diner of Manchester; People’s Choice Award – Taco Beyondo of Hillsboro.

Service Clubs: There were five contestants in this category and three awards. Best Booth Display – Bedford Lion’s Club; People’s Choice Award – Gilford Rotary Club; Judges’s Award and winner of $200, Gilford Rotary Club Grill master, David Perreira, chef.

Auburn Nature workshop for educators

New Hampshire Audubon, New Hampshire Fish and Game, and New Hampshire Project Learning Tree are presenting a workshop for preschool-kindergarten teachers Sept. 9 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This hands-on workshop will give you lots of ideas for taking students outside and bringing nature inside through multiple developmental areas and subject connections, and fun-healthy snacks. The workshop will be held at the N.H. Audubon Massabesic Center in Auburn. Thanks to the support of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service New England Office registration for the workshops is only $20.
