Southwest Airlines has added daily nonstop flights to Nashville to its schedule at Manchester-Boston Regional Airport.
The flight leaves around noon and returns around 5 p.m. five days a week, every day but Tuesday and Wednesday. It marks an important addition to the East Coast routes that dominate Manchester Airport’s offerings.
Nashville is a major operating center for Southwest, operating as a de facto hub from where direct flights can easily connect to more of the country, although the airline shuns the hub-and-spoke description.
Southwest has long dominated passenger traffic at Manchester and carries about half of the passenger traffic.
This gives Southwest five nonstop destinations from Manchester — Boston, Chicago, Nashville, Orlando and Tampa — as well as seasonal nonstop flights on Saturdays to Southwest Florida International Airport beginning next winter break.
