With a gaggle of traveling press trailing him through Carter Hill Orchard, Democratic Vice Presidential candidate Tim Kaine learned the difference between Cortland and Macintosh apples at a short campaign stop Thursday.

With a wide smile on his face, the Virginia senator and his wife, Anne Holton, got a tour of the orchard from owner Robert Laroque. Kaine stayed for about 15 minutes at the orchard on a whirlwind tour through New Hampshire in which he made six stops in one day.

“I want to get some cider.” Kaine exclaimed. It was too early for that, but Laroque promised to send him some. Ultimately, the senator settled for cider doughnuts instead.
