BOW - First, the bottom singles matches were over. Then the top singles matches were quickly finished. Doubles play had yet to begin, but the Bow boys' tennis team had already secured a tournament victory, its depth making a statement for the 15th straight time.

The top-seeded Falcons defeated No. 4 Kingswood, 8-1, in the semifinals yesterday, clinching a berth in the Division III final and a matchup with No. 2 Profile. The win stretched Bow's unbeaten record to 15-0, and got the team's postseason run started on an impressive note.

"I thought the team played very well. I thought we started off strong," Coach Drew Groves said. "We had good patience, and it was evident all up and down the lineup."

Tennis team falls to Exeter, 6-3, in semis

The Crimson Tide came out nervous in its first playoff match, Wednesday's quarterfinal against Nashua South. Those jitters put third-seeded Concord in an early hole, but the Tide was able to overcome the adversity and pull out a win.

The anxiety had all but disappeared by the time yesterday's Division I semifinal against No. 2 Exeter rolled around, and Concord jumped out to an early lead. As the match wore on, however, it was the Blue Hawks (15-1) who gained strength, overcame the early deficit and came away with a 6-3 win to advance to Tuesday's final against top-ranked and undefeated Londonderry (16-0), which beat Keene, 7-2, in the other semifinal.

"The nerves were gone and we had some momentum carry over from the previous match," said Concord Coach Dave Page, whose team finished at 14-2. "But late in the matches Exeter just ground us down. They're a very deep team with good tennis players one through six. We were in it early, we just couldn't make it last."

Pembroke 14, Hanover 0

Pembroke improved to 10-5 with a rout of Hanover (1-14). Freshman Hannah Seidner got the win in the circle and Ashley Henshaw came in with some nice relief work.

The Pembroke bats came alive, led by freshman Madison Pellerin, who went 3-for-3 with two singles and a double. Senior captain Ashley Fosher and Kara Dugas both doubled and Katherine Arvanitis hit a home run.

Pembroke hosts Pelham in its last regular season game today. The team will honor its only senior, captain Ashley Fosher.

Bow 14, Raymond 4

Bow swept Raymond in a doubleheader Wednesday, which was also senior night for seniors Casey Curley and Kasie Tucker.

Kylie Iasillo earned the win in the circle in the first game for the Falcons, allowing zero earned runs and only five hits while striking out six and walking none. Julianne Mosher went 2-for-2 and knocked in three runs to lead Bow offensively, while Tucker knocked in two runs with a double. Madison Palisi also added two RBI, and Amy Zahensky walked and scored twice.

Palisi pitched in the second game, going six innings and allowing seven hits and no walks while striking out six. Mosher led the offense again, this time with four hits and four RBI. Tucker went 2-for-3 with a triple and four RBI, while Palisi and Miki Dowd (RBI) each added two hits.

Bow finished the regular season in the eighth spot in the D-III standings with a 10-6 record.

Boys' Lacrosse

Bow pulled out a hard-fought win over St. Thomas (11-3) to improve to 12-2 in Division II, claiming the second seed for the tournament. Devin Calkins led the offense with five goals. Calkins, a sophomore, has totaled 100 points in his first two years as a varsity player.

Robert Jenkins made 11 saves in net, including several big stops when the Falcons were behind, giving the offense an opportunity to get back into the game.

Matt Sanford had two goals and Mike Fanaras added a goal. Clayton Caron, Riley Keenan, Dan Crisman and Trevor Garrett each had an assist. David Boone, Chris Knepper, Casey Fessenden, Derrick LaBranche, Cory Berman, and Connor Hughes all played well on defense.

Windham 20, John Stark 7

John Stark (8-6) finished the season with a strong effort but a disappointing result against a very strong Windham (14-0) squad. Maddie Pisapia led the playoff-bound Generals with three goals.

Kathleen Medvetz scored two goals, while Beckie Beaulieu and Samantha Valcourt each added one. Mikayla Cusson as well as seniors Ellen MacLean and Julie Carignan all played well defensively.

Trailing 6-4 midway through the first half, the Cougars (12-1) appeared in danger of losing to the Bobcats (7-6) on senior night for the third year in a row. However, the Cougars kicked their offense up a notch and earned an impressive win heading into the playoffs.

Morgan Galluzzo saved two point-blank shots in the first 30 seconds of the second half, which inspired the offense to score five unanswered goals in the first three minutes and effectively put the game out of reach.

The seniors had a huge impact on the game for the Cougars, as Michelle Howell led all scorers with five goals and two assists, while Holly Pons was also outstanding with four goals and two assists. Cara Wolf (three goals), Meg Everson (two goals) and Paige Newman (three assists) also played well. Junior Gemma Bready added four goals and two assists, while Galluzzo finished with 10 saves.

Lindsey Reynolds scored five goals to lead Bow (8-6) over Goffstown (4-11) in the Falcons' final regular-season game. The win sets the Falcons as the sixth seed heading into the tournament.

Kelsey Mumford scored three goals, while Kaitlyn Flynn and Amy Nolan each added two. Jill Chergey recorded six saves in net.

Girls' Lacrosse

Jane Symmes scored six goals as the Crimson Tide - which has wrapped up the No. 1 seed in Division I - improved to 15-0. Pinkerton fell to 6-7.

Other offensive contributors were Jenna Tewksbury (four goals), Seneth Waterman (three goals), Mary Annon (goal, assist), Erin Mullen (goal, assist), Emily Graff (goal) and Emmie Palisi (goal). Goalie Haylie Schermerhorn made five saves, while Jenna Freese, Rachel Gridley and Sammi Nadeau anchored the defense.

Concord faces Londonderry (10-2) in its regular-season finale today at 4 p.m. at home.
