The 18-year-old brother of Leah Anderson, a Plymouth State University student who died after a shooting in Thornton, has been charged in connection with her death.
On Monday morning, police responded to a report of a shooting on Upper Mad River Road in Thornton. On arrival, police found Leah, 21, with a gunshot wound to the head, according to the attorney general’s office.
Leah was transported to the hospital where she received treatment for her head injury but was later pronounced dead.
The investigation led officials with the Thornton Police Department and New Hampshire State Police to her brother, 18-year-old Logan Anderson, according to the attorney general’s office.
Logan faces one count of second-degree murder for intentionally causing his sister’s death.
He waived his arraignment, and a plea of not guilty was entered on his behalf, according to a spokesperson for the courts. He is currently being held without bail, as there is no bail for a charge of second-degree murder.
Logan is scheduled to appear in Plymouth District Court for a probable cause hearing on June 17.
The investigation into Leah’s death is ongoing, according to the attorney general’s office.
On Tuesday, Plymouth State President Donald L. Birx remembered Leah as a student who spread kindness and joy.
Leah studied elementary education and youth development at the university.
“Whether at Plymouth State or in the broader community, she was known for her caring nature, her warmth, and her ability to make others feel valued,”Birx said.
