Canoeing and kayaking at the Contoocook River Canoe Company in Concord gets more popular when it gets hot out. The forecast for the week heading into July 4 weekend calls for clear sunny skies and temperatures mostly in the 80s with Friday in the 90s. Saturday and Sunday are expected to be cloudy, while Monday, the holiday, should be sunny and in the mid-80s, according to the National Weather Service.

Independence Day weekend is one of the biggest travel times of the year in the Granite State, but gas prices may hamper some of that enthusiasm.

In May, state officials predicted the New Hampshire’s record tourism growth would continue into this summer, with a projected 4.6 million visitors spending more than $2.2 billion.
