BOWHazardous waste day at new location

■The Towns of Bow and Dunbarton will hold a Household Hazardous Waste Day & Electronics Collection on Oct. 31 from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Bow Department of Public Works on 12 Robinson Road, Bow. DUNBARTONRequest absentee ballot before Nov. 2

■The library is working on phase three of its reopening plan. “In and out” browsing services inside the building are available by appointment. Thirty-minute appointments can be made by phone or email. Hours for appointments will be Tuesday-Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. No public seating or tables are available at this time. A limited number of patrons is allowed inside during the appointment. Masks must be worn and hand washing will be encouraged while in the building. No-contact curbside pickups remain available and are encouraged.

■Read to Dogs Virtually at the library. You must register to participate. Kids in grades 1-4 who register will have a 15-minute virtual session with a dog of their choice. Sessions start Oct. 8 and are from 3-4 p.m. with Jake and handler Pat. Please contact the library now to reserve your spot. 

■The DCC Book Club has changed its discussion on “Mary Magdalene” by Lynn Picknett to Oct. 8 from 7 to 8 p.m.

■The deadline to request an absentee ballot by mail is Nov. 2. For more up-to-date information and official resources to help you prepare for the general election visit facebook.com/votinginformationcenter/?hoisted_unit_ids.

■There is no school on Oct. 9 for NEA Day and on Oct. 12 for Columbus Day. Town offices will also be closed on Oct. 12.

HENNIKER / WEAREKnitWits to hold early holiday sale under the Big Top

■On Oct. 3 and Oct. 10  from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the White Birch KnitWits will hold their annual sale under the Big Top at 51 Hall Ave., Henniker. Previously this annual sale has been held in December but this year the KnitWits are inviting you to start your holiday shopping early. 

■From the fire chiefs of our two towns: All permits are suspended until further notice due to high fire danger. 

■Farmers Markets going strong in Henniker (4 to 7 p.m. on Thursdays) and Weare (9 to 3 on Saturdays).  Fall produce, flowers, crafts, meats and live music!
