There is good news in Pembroke for tennis players and enthusiasts of the game. After years of attempts to budget a renovation of the tennis courts the town is again considering a proposed renovation to occur. The town must realize at the present time this project is years behind for another attempt to finalize this much needed town project. To play the game of tennis it is all about the ball bouncing true with no debris, cracks or surface bumps to distort the ball. Those that have been playing on these town courts for over twenty years realize this is the worst condition the courts have ever been in. Surface work that has been done in the past did help, but patching the tennis court surface is no longer an acceptable process.

To have witnessed this deterioration with all other seasoned recreational players in the community it is visually obvious a complete renovation needs to be done now. It is a discouraging situation to see parents attempting to teach young beginners as well as adult beginners with 3 of 4 courts with nets on a cracked, uneven surface. Not the way to attempt to learn or improve oneโ€™s tennis game. The most unfortunate incident occurred this spring when the PA tennis team could not play their home matches on the courts due to rules, must have 4 courts with no bad surfaces. The team played their home games in Concord. It had to be another downfall for the players after not having a tennis season the year before.
