On Earth Day many towns in New Hampshire sponsor trash pick-up programs, handing out those blue bags and encouraging residents to pick up around town and bring the bags and recyclable containers to the local transfer station.
How much easier and less cumbersome this effort would be if the state passed a bottle bill, with a five or ten cent “bounty” for every drink container turned in. We need to get with the times, follow our neighbors, and help save the planet.
