Highlights: Winnisquam scored seven runs in the fifth inning to take a 9-1 lead, but the Wildcats came back with eight in the fifth to tie it and scored a run in the sixth to take a 10-9 lead. The Bears came back with three runs to win it on the road, starting with Robbins’ infield single to tie the game, 10-10, and St. Onge driving in the game winner with a single to right. The victory was head coach Fred Caruso’s 150th career win.

Highlights: Craigue, Wyatt and Elizabeth Blinn turned a 4-6-3 double play, Wyatt made a highlight reel layout catch and Duford tracked down a high wind-blown pop-up behind the plate to spark the defense. Wachter retired 17 straight to finish the game.

Highlights: The Bears withstood a lot of pressure from ConVal in the final minutes of the game, but Coe-Brown held on.

But beyond that, the importance of this game as a way of starting to sort through what is happening in the middle of D-II became clear as this week went on. It is still early, but I think there is general consensus as to who has distinguished themselves at the very top, but if this game was any indication, the news from the middle is great in that the competition is going to be fierce and everyone is going to get better for it come playoff time. This was a big win for us.
